Why do my tasks disappear?

Sometimes it seems that tasks disappear from my task list. E.g. I have multiple tasks on my task list, I finish one, return to my task list and then one or more of the other tasks are gone.

How can this happen?

A task on the task list can disappear for different reasons:

Another user, which is also permitted to work on this task, has already finished it.
Someone is working on this task so the task is blocked for all other users until the working user rollback it or his session expires.
You have already started the task in another browser session so it is not visible in your task list anymore.

Consider that there may be multiple frontends where tasks can be started (e.g. Ivy Portal, Ivy app or custom made Workflow Uis) so it may be that your task was started from another frontend.
