Hello, i am actually migration a 4.3 RIA application (which i didn't wrote) to a 5.1.2 JSF application. In the old application we were using the workflowUI and something called DocumentWrapper to take care of the Files linked to a case. Does something similar exist in 5.1.2 JSF ? I've found in the addOns the whole ch.ivyteam.ivy.addons.filemanager package. It is used for RIA but could we reuse something ? Or do we have to develop the whole thing ? Is storing files in a CMS an option ? asked 15.01.2015 at 17:15 dbalasse |
Hello Sorry, but at the moment there is no JSF File Manager available. Currently, we are talking internally how we can provide such a functionality. In the moment it is unclear when and how such a functionality will be available. Regards Reto Weiss Product Owner Axon.ivy answered 23.01.2015 at 13:29 Reto Weiss ♦♦ Thank you for the answer. I had that feeling. So I wrote one that fit my needs. It stores the files in the xivy CMS (in a folder). Is it a good practice? Is your CMS strong enough to support this? I am not talking about Gb of data, only a few files per case (if any). Regards Denis

I would recommend to store files in the file system, unless there is a real requirement/benefit when using the CMS. See also the Q&A entry http://answers.axonivy.com/questions/211/where-should-i-store-my-data. Note that each PMV (Process Model Version) has a own CMS!

The benefit i see is that there is no external configuration/storage needs. I won't be the one maintaining the app and as the operationnal staff of my client is a bit lazy (and they use windows server), i thougt it was better for them not to have to worry of file storage.
